Lake Balanan

It really never ceases to amaze me how nature works so mysteriously. Once again it proved that it can create something out of nothing. Let's take a closer look at one of the most hidden paradise of the Philippines located specifically in the province of Negros Oriental.
Deep in the mountains of Barangay Sandulot in Siaton, there lies the freshwater lake created after the tectonic earthquake that shook the island in the 1920's with a magnitude of 6.8 in the Richter scale. Soon after that, a small village emerged along the banks and nearby hills with fishing as their main source of livelihood. Today, the lake offers lounging rooms, restaurants, and other facilities that cater mostly to family vacationers. On top of that, a tropical rainforest surrounds the lake with occational sightings of herons, bats, egrets, and other wide varieties of animals. How's that for a treat?
