One of the provisional winners announced last year, of the controversial New Seven Wonders of the World committee, officially announced the Puerto Princesa Underground River in Palawan as one of the winners of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. The announcement has been officially confirmed and has been welcomed by widespread spectrum of Philippine media.
"The inclusion of the 17-kilometer underground river will boost not only tourism traffic in Puerto Princesa but also heightens the awareness on the need to protect the natural wonder." Mayor Hagedorn said."Before the start of the campaign we only have one flight a day and sometimes two. But now, we have 11 to 12 flights a day," the mayor added.
This is a great feat to the Philippines which will make it more popular to locals and international wanderers. Way to go Philippines!
