Filipinos love singing and with the likes of Charice Pempengco, Arnel Pineda and other notable Pinoy artists who made names in the international music scene, it is safe to say that we Filipinos in terms of different genres of music are comparable to other talents worldwide.
Not only our local artists are being praised and given credits when we talk about singing because other artists abroad are also very appreciative with our Pinoy songs. Let's take the Japanese rock band Uchuu Sentai Noiz (宇宙戦隊 Noiz) as an example.
Uchuu Sentai Noiz is a visual kei rock band from Japan and are known for their energetic music, wild cosplay-like outfits, and live shows full of energy and on stage antics. Their music is very eclectic and has many different elements from genres such as punk, pop, metal, hip-hop and electronica in their sound and thus cannot be properly labeled. Some songs tend to not mix all these sounds together and focus on one or two, while other song combine all these elements. There are two singers, Angel Taka (lead) and Masato, whereas for the most part Angel sings in more of a pop friendly voice though occasionally can sound a bit more punk-ish, while Masato tends to sing in harsh/brutal metal vocals and even purely hip-hop/rap style vocals which Angel will sing backup for. Uchuu Sentai Noiz made a cover of the hit song "Narda", a song popularized by one of the Philippines great rock bands, Kamikazee. I personally like their cover. They made it their own. Enjoy!
Wow! This is a really good cover. 宇宙戦隊NOIZ really made the song their own as it sounded so JRock. Oh and I was expecting they'd sing it in Nihonggo, but Angel-Taka did a great job singing the Filipino lyrics.. :D Thanks for sharing! Now, I miss listening to JRock! XD
ReplyDeleteIndeed good cover, Sumi. Notice their accent as well. I find it nice.
